📜 Historical Background

Originally a part of the old Malabar District Board, the region of Punnayurkulam was later divided into two separate panchayats: Attupuram and Andathode. It was unified into the single, present-day Punnayurkulam Panchayat in 1962.

Over the years, the panchayat has undergone several district-level administrative changes:

  • It was initially part of the Kozhikode district.

  • Following the reorganization of states in 1956, it became a part of the Palakkad district.

  • It was finally integrated into the Thrissur district in the 1970s.
